Gee Returns to Ohio State
Today Vanderbilt Chancellor Gordon Gee announced that he will leave Vanderbilt to become president of The Ohio State University, where he served as president in the 1990s. (hat tip: Dad!)
He’s scheduled a 3pm press conference so I’m sure I’ll have more to say, but right now let me just say that I believe Chancellor Gee was the epitome of the transformational leader. I had the privilege of working with him on several occassions while in college, and we have our disagreements, but it’s hard to understate the forward progress Vanderbilt made in nearly every area as an institution under his watch.
[Update 7/11/07: Here’s the Vanderbilt press release, which includes a lengthy list of Chancellor Gee’s many accomplishments since his arrival in 2000.]
