About Me

Chad living the good lifeHi. I’m Chad Wilcox, and this is my site.

Facebook me! LinkedIn me!
(Sorry, had to do it.)

As of this writing, I’m 28 years old and live in Arlington, VA. Professionally, I ChadChadam currently the Director of Alumni Relations for the Institute for Humane Studies, a nonprofit educational organization located on the Arlington campus of George Mason University. My job in a nutshell is to oversee how IHS can better share information and capitalize on professional connections to assist program alumni in their career development.

I joined IHS in May 2005 as a member of the marketing team, and have also contributed as hiring coordinator.  Prior to arriving in the DC area I spent ten years in Nashville, TN, most recently serving as marketing director for Vanderbilt Student Communications, Inc. at Vanderbilt University. My work history also includes organizational consulting work for the American Red Cross among other things. I completed a M.Ed. in organizational leadership from Vanderbilt in 2003, where I also earned my B.A. in 2002 in political science and economics.

Organizational leadership, for those who don’t know (nobody ever does), is a focus on the theories and behaviors that drive organizations and the individuals within them. My primary research interest — which I do plan to pursue at some point in the future — centers on the political factors that affect organizational efficiency among employees, particularly in institutions of higher education. However, I’m also interested in avenues outside the university setting including organizational development, employee recruitment and training, marketing and outreach, and career ventures that tie my enthusiasm for higher education with my interests in politics and public policy that frequently appear on this site.

My personal interests include traveling, playing and watching sports, playing spades, and engaging in intellectual discussions and debates. I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively, and my non-family travel (i.e. the kind you pay for) includes 48 states (just missing Alaska and Hawaii!) and nearly 20 nations. My sports teams are the Tennessee Titans in football and Vanderbilt in most everything else. I don’t get outdoors much these days, but I do enjoy it when I can.
